Letters To A Young Generation 2 launches
Many things indirectly inspire young minds, but the newly launched Letters to a Young Generation 2 takes a direct approach. Specifically in appealing to an audience of young, black, females to inspire and encourage them in life, leading and entrepreneurship.
With a foreword from MOBOs creator, Kanya King MBE, the title collects the letters of 17 successful black women, sharing their experiences of growing up in the UK. Contributors for Letters to a Young Generation 2 include Sinitta, Ms Dynamite, Ronke Lawal and Leah Charles-King, and the book is deemed a nothing short of vital source by its curator and publisher, Amanda Wilson:
For the first time black girls in the UK have their own manual that helps answer ‘How do I own being who I am? How do I make things happen for me?’
A deputy-head teacher of a South-east London primary school, Wilson - who owns the house producing the book (9:10 Publishing) - is clearly in a position to see the need for Letters to a Young Generation 2. In fact, she has great prior experience in providing book-bound inspiration. 9:10 Publishing also produced the first Letters to a Young Generation title - a collection of 13 letters to inspire young, black, male readers.
Of course we hope this second book inspires, informs and is loved just as much by those who come across it. In her own words, Ms Wilson, "couldn't be prouder of the project".
